Welcome to The Quilting Patch! Located in the middle of the Permian Basin of West Texas, we are grateful for the land of the big sky, the occasional cotton patch, frequent oil patches, and an eager community of quilters.

 We are a full service quilt store offering quality fabric, notions, books, patterns, quilting classes and friendly customer service.   We have a multi-talented staff who are happy to see you no matter what brings you in our door!   While no one person can provide all the support that you need, among us someone can!  We offer a variety of quilting classes taught by experienced quilting teachers who have regional reputations for excellence.

 

1930s Reproduction Fabrics

At the Quilting Patch we know many of you love the vintage pastel quilts and want to make your new quilt look like an antique using 1930s reproduction fabrics. You will find the latest collections of 1930s reproduction fabrics from Aunt Grace and Darlene Zimmerman to give your traditional pieced quilt the retro look you want. Are you looking for the perfect solid color fabrics of 1930s reproductions to use as a background in your design? We have all the unique colors from bubblegum pink to candy apple red to mustard yellow.

 

Kaffe Fassett Fabric

If you prefer a more contemporary look in your quilts, we have Kaffe Fassett fabric and other Rowan Fabric lines from up-and-coming new designers such as Carla Miller and Phillip Jacobs. Kaffe Fassett is a talented designer who has brought his ideas to the quilt world through his fabric collections and books. One amazing feature of the Kaffe Fassett fabric line is the way it blends with all the other designers in his studio. Bright or muted, bold or subtle, these fabulous Kaffe Fassett fabrics can mix, match, and blend or star in your quilt.

 

Moda Quilting Fabric

Do you want your quilt to feel as good to the touch as it looks to the eye? We believe that Moda quilting fabric has the best drape, or “hand,” of any quilting fabric. Moda has assembled a fine group of designers with ranges from delicate pastel floral collections to bolder geometric bright fabrics. Among the many Moda quilting fabric designers, you’ll find complete collections in our online store. You might want to purchase one of our coordinated fabric bundles of a Moda designer new to you. Any quilter would enjoy a gift of quality Moda fabric, and our carefully selected group of related fabrics makes your selection of a gift easy.

Indonesian Batik Fabric

Oh, how we love batiks, and Indonesian batik fabric is our favorite!   Rather than seeing an overall printed design, we are fascinated by the various color swirls and interesting designs you see in the Indonesian batik fabrics. The batik process gives the fabric a hand dyed look. It is a bonus for your budget that batiks are reversible. There is no wrong side. You will find vivid colors on both front and back of a true batik and we have an entire wall dedicated to more than 800 bolts of these amazing fabrics.

You can work up an entire quilt using our Indonesian batik fabric or simply use them as focal points or blenders. We stock Indonesian batik fabric from Hoffman, Island Batiks, and Princess Mira. You may purchase any fabric by the yard or in our specially selected Indonesian Batik Fabric Bundles.

We carry Olfa mats and rotary cutters, Dovo scissors, Creative Grid rulers, threads by Mettler, Aurifil, Robison Anton, the latest books by Martingale Press, Floriani stabilizers, embroidery designs by Anita Goodesigns, Cactus Punch, Momo Dini, Stitch Connection, Zundt. Whatever your needs for quilting supplies may be, we will help you select just the right tool for the job.   If we don’t stock what you need, we will be more than happy to special order it for you if at all possible.

 

About The Shop

The Quilting Patch has been a fixture in the West Texas quilting community since August 2005.  In August 2010, the store was purchased by the current owner, Anne Moore, a relative newcomer to Midland.  Anne began quilting in 2006 when she saw a Kaffe Fassett quilt that she had to make.  A born do-it-yourselfer and self taught sewer, she ordered the kit.  Upon its arrival she realized that she had no clue what to do and was afraid to cut the fabric!  A trip to her local quilt shop and six weeks of lessons later, a passionate quilter was born.  After moving to Midland, Anne retired from a long career as a social worker and began to look for a fun job for her retirement.  When she learned the Quilting Patch was for sale, she felt it was a match made in heaven!  

 

New to retail and relatively new to quilting, this dream would not be possible without the talented and dedicated staff of the shop who not only hold her hand, but also the hands of our many customers.  Together we are bringing in new fabric lines and working with our fabulous teachers to bring you more and better fabrics, new color combinations and quilting classes that focus on teaching techniques as you create your projects in class.
